Written by Peter Cary I recently built this Sig Manufacturing 1/5-scale Piper Cub. It was a pleasure to build from this kit, which included precision laser-cut parts and easy to follow instructions. I started this hobby in Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia) when I was inspired by watching the annual national model aircraft show, with a visit in 1962 by Ed Kazmirsky. He was demonstrating his latest design Taurus with a 60cc two-stroke engine, using an Orbit 10-channel radio. Roughly 20 years later, we were honored at the same show by the visit of the then-president of the AMA, Mr. Don Lowe, who showed us the latest pattern maneuvers, including the rolling circle, whilst commentating through our loudspeaker system. What a pleasure to meet him. I moved to the United States in 1988, and continued building and flying for all these years. I am a member of the PVMAC in Southern California, and love receiving your Model Aviation monthly magazine.
