Hi all. It’s been a busy time; I’ve been out to several events. First was the NW Model Hobby Expo in Monroe, Washington. I enjoyed talking with many of you, and the swap shop was great. Here are some pictures.
Next was the Spring Opener at Weaver’s Airfield in Othello, Washington. Associate Vice President Mike Ingram was also there and submitted the following:
Spring finally arrived on April 18 and 19 at Weaver’s Field in Othello, with the annual breakfast, auction, and Spring Opener Fun Fly. The festivities kicked off with a breakfast prepared by Gale and Sandra Vasquez. It was truly awesome food and a chance to catch up with friends.
Next item on the agenda was the annual auction, which raised funds to offset the cost of keeping the field looking amazing. Guests brought an item to auction that had a value of at least $15. Gary Weaver served as auctioneer and, besides being a lot of fun, there were some good deals to be had.
Open flying started after the auction was completed. The event was well attended, with pilots flying their winter projects as well as their reliable old aircraft. There was everything from jets to helicopters to trainers and everything in between. On top of all of the food, fun, and camaraderie, the weather cooperated and made it a truly wonderful day!
I also traveled to Muncie, Indiana, for the spring Executive Council meeting. After working hard all day on Saturday, I got to go out to Site 4 at the International Aeromodeling Center and fly with some of the local members.
That’s all for this month. Flying season is here, and I hope I see you out there. Keep building and flying!
