For many pilots, the electric motor is a black box and when it stops working, some may think the only option is replacement. Sometimes this is true; for example, Innov8tive Designs says that if if any of the metal components of the motor are bent, the motor is usually unrepairable. Even a bend of 1/1000 of an inch can cause unnacceptable vibrations when the motor is run at full speed! However, with the right tools and the righ training, pilots with a moderate amount of mechanical repair experience can make some simple repairs to keep that motor running longer. Innov8tive Designs offers a series of videos on mechanical repairs on their website at www.Innov8tiveDesigns.com. Take a look at a couple of common repair videos below before you replace that next motor!
