SNOOPY AND HIS SOPWITH Camel and the Red Baron Fokker Triplane kits were released approximately 50 years ago by Monogram Models. These kits were hugely popular—so much so that purchasing a vintage one today would be a much larger investment.

The good news is that these kits are produced today by Atlantis Models in the US! For less than $30 each, you can relive your childhood or make new memories. Using the original injection molds developed by the former Monogram Models, Atlantis provides the same plastic kit that features a snap-together assembly.

Both kits feature a removable battery tray located behind the motor that drives the propeller. No soldering or wiring is required. With the flick of a finger, the motor comes to life.

Assembly is what you would expect from a plastic model. The parts are on sprues and molded with the colors required for the kit. An illustrated instruction manual walks you through the process of turning the 28 parts for Red Baron or 38 parts for Snoopy into a nice display model. Peel-and-stick decals complete the finish on the models.

No painting is required to complete the models as shown in the photos; however, extra detailing can be done if desired, such as painting the Red Baron’s face.

The models can be displayed on their included bases, or you can display them sitting on their wheels. The only thing you’ll need to supply is a single AA battery to power each kit’s motor. It is recommended that you remove the battery if you do not plan to use the motor regularly because the battery will be slowly depleted.

Atlantis Models has brought back many kits from both Aurora Models and Monogram Models, so be sure to check out the company’s website.

Atlantis Models was founded in 2009 by Peter Vetri and Rick DelFavero, with some guidance from former Aurora Plastics project manager Andrew P. Yanchus. With a combined 60 years of experience, Atlantis is a venture run by lifelong hobbyists who have demonstrated their adeptness in sustaining a successful manufacturing business.

Atlantis Models maintains the proud traditions of the hobby, built upon world-class knowledge of service in the industry. The company is headquartered on Long Island, New York.
