July 2025 - District XI

I can’t believe another month has gone by. This issue is the 50th anniversary of Model Aviation magazine. What a great accomplishment! I’ve enjoyed reading this magazine from cover to cover for most of those years.

I start with the district news, and then move to the event calendar so I that will be up-to-date with all that is happening. I then go to my favorite columns, which have changed throughout the years, and afterward, I read the product reviews. Now, I get to write in it every month! I want to thank all of you who read it.

I attended the Northwest Model Hobby Expo in Monroe, Washington, where I spent most of my time in the swap area. I really enjoy this event! I get to talk with many of the members and wheel and deal as well! There was a great turnout, lots of stuff to buy, and opportunities to sell. (I did some of each!) I got busy and didn’t get many pictures, but I snapped a couple while setting up.

I traveled to Muncie, Indiana, for the April Executive Council meeting and got to attend the Dayton ModelRama in Dayton, Ohio, the day before. It was a great event, with lots of buying, selling, and swapping going on. If you are in the area next spring, be sure to visit.

I always enjoy seeing the Indy racer on display when I fly into the Indianapolis International Airport. Here is a picture of the one that was on display this time. It’s a real classic!

Aaron Cleveland sent me a picture of the Sanderson Field RC Flyers presenting a $2,000 check to the Shelton High School math, engineering, and technology program. This is a great example of community engagement! Way to go!

That’s all for this month. I’m trying to get to more events this summer, but there are many I can’t make. Send me pictures and a short description of your event and I’ll put it in an article.

I’m on my way to Joe Nall in a couple weeks and I’ll have a report on that for next month. Keep building and flying!
