Jay grew up being involved in hobbies and worked in his father’s hobby shop. He has competitively raced RC boats and cars, and at one point was sponsored by Bolink. A Cox PT-19 was his first introduction to Control Line flying and a Carl Goldberg Eagle II had him flying RC aircraft by age seven.
Jay has a fascination for all things that fly and has participated in most aeromodeling disciplines. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Model Aviation, Executive Editor of Sport Aviator, and a columnist for Park Pilot. He also contributes to RCGroups and NatsNews. Although Jay’s primary focus is on publications, he also works closely with the Marketing Department to promote the AMA.
Jay is also a US Army veteran and served as a Military Police Officer. During his enlistment, he was deployed to Bosnia for 10 months in support of Operation Joint Endeavor.
