Jay grew up being involved in hobbies and worked in his father’s hobby shop. He has competitively raced RC boats and cars, and at one point was sponsored by Bolink. A Cox PT-19 was his first introduction to Control Line flying and a Carl Goldberg Eagle II had him flying RC aircraft by age seven.
Jay has a fascination for all things that fly and has participated in most aeromodeling disciplines. He is the Editor-in-Chief of
Model Aviation
, Executive Editor of Sport Aviator, and a columnist for Park Pilot. He also contributes to RCGroups and
NatsNews
. Although Jay’s primary focus is on publications, he also works closely with the Marketing Department to promote the AMA.
Jay is also a US Army veteran and served as a Military Police Officer. During his enlistment, he was deployed to Bosnia for 10 months in support of Operation Joint Endeavor.
