June 2025 - District I

Associate Vice Presidents (AVPs) Daren Hudson and Doug Thompson provided an event report highlighting the Fremont Flyers in New Hampshire, led by club President Wayne Watjus.

The club has generated positive energy at its new indoor flying site at Seacoast United/3Step Sports in Epping, New Hampshire. Despite being in the hobby for only four years, Wayne, with the support of his wonderful wife, Carol, has learned to fly various aircraft and assist other new fliers, while becoming a highly valued volunteer leader in District I.

Wayne became the secretary of his club and an influential founding member of the District I AMA District Outreach Team. He was elected president, added two flying sites, negotiated a donation of an outdoor rug runway, opened a pond area for float flying, and cultivated an indoor site during three years of negotiations with management, and fostering a strong community relationship.

Wayne also secured three FAA-Recognized Identification Areas site approvals for outdoor areas and promotes an open atmosphere, welcoming all to visit.

AVP Daren Hudson’s wife, Justyna, visited the site and proved that she could fly Daren’s saucer and UMX Vapor.

Wayne has done exceptional work! We have gladly accepted his application as an AMA Leader Member.

The indoor flying space has become a shining example of the modeling community because Wayne opened it to everyone for flying, trying, or watching. We average 15 to 20 pilots and visitors from as many as 11 different clubs, some several hours away. The camaraderie, laughter, learning, and fun have been inspirational. Special thanks to Wayne and his wife for their enthusiasm and volunteerism.

Thanks to Daren and Doug for this report!
