Hi. My name is Jennifer Lea Reynolds. I’ve been a member of the AMA since 2003 and am with the Winnipesaukee Radio Controllers in New Hampshire. I fly small electric and glow models, including a Sport-Air, a homebuilt foamy, and the airplane I had my first solo RC flight with, my Kadet. Indoors, I enjoy my E-flite helicopter.
I fly primarily at local flying fields, often keeping flights low-key. I’m content to circle the skies calmly, doing loops and Figure Eights. If I’m feeling wild I’ll put in some stall turns and a low pass, but mostly like to follow the pattern and take it easy.
Through the years, I’ve been involved with model airplane public relations initiatives, newsletter write-ups, and photography.
I attend many large RC airplane events as a spectator and pilot helper, and think it should be standard that all calendars sold in stores have Warbirds over Delaware and the Annual Rhinebeck Jamboree noted. The incredible flights, shows, and people at these events never fail to put a smile on my face.
I’m not a stranger to the skies. I can’t resist those biplane rides out of New York’s Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. At Pennsylvania’s Van Sant Airport, I once tossed in a last-minute pilot request to do a loop. I believe the adrenaline from that loop is still with me to this day. Secretly, I have the desire to skydive, although I think I’ll let my few zipline adventures satisfy that curiosity. For now.
My grandfather was a crew chief on a B-29 in the China Burma India Theater during World War II.
I’m a freelance writer, drawing on past careers at New York City and New Jersey advertising agencies and public relations firms. My articles have been published in various media outlets, including U.S. News & World Report, Reader's Digest, Smithsonian, Psychology Today, and more.
I’m also interested in photography, wildlife/nature, am fascinated with astronomy, and having lost 70 pounds in 2007, enjoy exercise and nutrition. I’m the author and creator of FlabbyRoad.com, where I blog about weight and health-related topics. This weight-loss success led to my appearance in many national magazine advertisements and also resulted in media coverage.
As the daughter of a military family, I was born in Ohio and lived in Germany (two occasions), New York, and Massachusetts. I’ve lived in Monmouth County, New Jersey, since the early ’90s and now reside in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire with my husband.
I’m a kid at heart who enjoys the camaraderie and spirit of the RC modeling community.
I have a B.A. in Communication from Monmouth University in New Jersey.
